An Amazing
life of an amazing man
Dominic Fahr
As a child was renowned
as a perfect little romancer.
(A nicer translation of the actual words used)
At school wrote plays
and in 1954 won a competition for an essay “Heaven and Hell”, which wasn’t as easy at it sounds considering that
under the heading Religion, this delightful twelve year child wrote “Heathen”, and whilst being questioned by
the church invigilators, gave a twelve minute lecture on the Goddess Phaedra (Frøya in Norsk), The Goddess Isis,
and the Goddess Arwen. (Imagine how he might have grown up if he’d had a mother and a family…
yech!).
Whilst reading law in
the US, at the age of 25, (although French passport read 29… you had to be 18 to enlist and…) had a
wonderful time turning out soft porn for a NY publisher… encapsulating such memorable phrases as “…his bloodshot
eyes followed the arrogant thrust of her impudent breasts.” It didn’t take much to excite the average sad Yankee
male!
Greatest creative
writings were to be read in court briefs and explanatory letters to the Internal Revenue. The latter once wrote
back to say how the report of the client’s conduct and circumstances had brought tears to the eyes of the most
hardened investigator. Still they found against the client, but then the Supreme Court ruled against the
IRS just four months after, (although I was in Sierra Leone at the time, settling another disagreement. Shame
one can’t just shoot the opposition in court!).
